Caff on Broadway is a cornerstone of the community, which we love for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and reliably great coffee. Found on the other side of the train tracks, located in the avenues, it’s a favourite spot for both quick coffee runs and longer, leisurely visits. This cafe is home to some of the best breakfast in Bassendean, and also offers a variety of gourmet sandwiches and fresh pastries that are perfect at any time of day.

Holly Raye’s is one of our team’s favourite spots, known for its lively atmosphere, creative food, and it’s dog-friendly environment. The cafe is a hub for locals, offering everything from morning coffee to the most tasty baked goods and cakes. Its outdoor seating area is particularly appealing, providing a beautiful setting for dining outdoors. Plus, with a recent change of ownership, Holly Raye’s has an amazing, brand-new menu that you have to try, if we do say so ourselves.

This is our founder Kelly’s top pick—their favourite part is that you can text your coffee order through so you don’t need to wait in line (and the line is usually a long one!).
Last Crumb Cake Co. is famous (at least around here!) for its exceptional cakes and pastries, so much so that on weekends the queue is often mile-long up the street! Nonetheless, The Last Crumb Cake Co. is our team’s favourite spot when we’re chasing a sweet treat. Located riverside at the bottom end of town with plenty of parking, it makes for an easy stop for a quick coffee or a leisurely afternoon enjoying their famous desserts. Although, if you want to be in with a chance to score one of their incredible donuts, be sure to stop by before 10am (they sell out almost every day!).

This is a long-time local favourite of many Basso residents!
Toe Beans Bassendean is a standout cafe for the coffee lovers and cat enthusiasts alike in our team. Found at the top end of town near the train station, it combines a relaxed atmosphere with the unique twist of being a cat-friendly cafe. Here, you can enjoy excellent coffee while spending time with cats that are up for adoption. This cafe is not just about serving great coffee, it’s also about creating a supportive community for animal welfare.

Also conveniently located in the Bassendean shopping centre, Xpresso Lane Cafe is perfect for when we need a quick coffee fix without the fuss. They offer a selection of freshly baked goods and are particularly popular for their refreshing smoothies in the summer. With a small but welcoming outdoor area, it’s a great spot for sunny day stops.

Bamb Bino’s is loved by our whole team for how convenient it is—it’s the only drive-through cafe in town, and we definitely make use of that!
Bamb Bino’s Cafe and Ice Creamery is a popular spot up the top end of town, opposite the library, for both coffee enthusiasts and ice cream lovers. It’s a cozy venue offering a diverse menu that includes delicious coffee, desserts, gelato, and sorbet. The cafe is known for its welcoming atmosphere and features both indoor seating and a drive-through for convenience—it’s our favourite spot for a drive-through treat!

Our whole team love this spot for its story; the 5 Four Store is named after the reference numbers ‘54’, which are in the Bassendean postcode. The locals like to say “are you heading into the 54?”, when they’re asking if you’re going into the town centre. Deb & Michelle (the owners of 5 Four Store) decided this was the perfect name for their little cafe!
More than just a cafe, The 5 Four Store is an absolute hit among our team. Featuring not only delicious homemade food (with the menu always changing!) and incredible coffee, you can also shop for unique gifts, local crafts, artisanal products and some regular pantry items at this hidden gem of a convenience store. Just up the road from Palmerston Square, it’s a must-visit next time you’re in town.
