Two Rocks

Welcome to Two Rocks

Two Rocks is a relaxing beachside suburb named after the two prominent rocks sitting just off Wreck Point.

Since early last century people have been travelling to this hidden gem’s pristine beaches and fertile fishing grounds. Two Rocks wasn’t gazetted as a Perth suburb until 1975, but before then many built their own colourful holiday shacks among the low, windswept dunes.

In 1969, Alan Bond’s Bond Corporation bought 19,600 acres of pastoral property along Perth’s far northern coastline and so evolved Yanchep Sun City and the Two Rocks Marina. Bond originally built the marina as a training base for Australia’s America’s Cup challenge but it quickly became popular among recreational boaties and fishermen.

These days Two Rocks’ America’s Cup links are subtle. Streets are named after some of the competing yachts and the area’s first school was established in the boatshed previously used by 1974 America’s Cup contender Southern Cross.

The Sun City dream and the Atlantis water and wildlife park lasted less than a decade. But the park ruins remain. For many Perth residents it’s Atlantis’ iconic limestone sculpture of King Neptune that the area is known for. In the 80s families would flock to Atlantis to watch dolphins perform, swim in the pools, ride pedal boats and have a “selfie” with Neptune.

These days the restored statue is heritage-listed limestone and sits among a thriving community of beachside mansions, character builds from the 80s and holiday apartments.
